Areva in MoU for UHVAC test station

EM NEWS BUREAU ,  Thursday, August 18, 2011, 15:16 Hrs  [IST]

Areva T&D India's transmission business (now a part of Alstom Grid) has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Power Grid Corporation of India to provide ultra high voltage technology for the upcoming 1,200kV national test station at Bina in Madhya Pradesh.

As per the MoU, Areva T&D India will provide 1,200kV capacitor voltage transformer, disconnectors and digital current transformers. All these high end products have been developed, manufactured and tested at Areva T&D India's world class factories at Hosur and Padappai—both in Tamil Nadu, a statement by Areva T&D noted.

PGCIL is in the process of establishing a 1,200kV UHVAC transmission system at Bina. This pilot project will facilitate field testing of equipment before deploying the technology for commercial purposes.
