Isolux Corsan Concesiones SA, part of the
Spanish Isolux Group, has been awarded
a major power transmission concession
by Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission
Corporation Ltd. It involves setting up of
1,600 km of high voltage (400kV and
765kV) transmission lines and five
transformer substations with an estimated
investment of €815 million (around
5,500 crore). Isolux will set up the power
transmission infrastructure under BOOT
model and operate it under a 37.5 year
concession period. The transmission
network will facilitate transfer of 4,600 mw
of power from upcoming generation plans
to consumption centres in Uttar Pradesh. It
is reliably learnt that a consortium led by
Cobra Instalactiones Y Servicios, also of
Spain, has won a similar concession, in
collaboration with Megha Engineering &
Infrastructure Ltd, from UPPTCL.
