India's largest power turbine tested

Untitled - 16.jpgL&T-MHI Turbine Generators Pvt Ltd, a joint venture between Larsen & Toubro Ltd and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries of Japan, recently assembled and tested the performance of a 800-mw turbinegenerator with supercritical parameters, at L&T-MHI's Hazira facility in Gujarat. This is learnt to be the largest-capacity generator to be tested in India. L&TMHI is supplying turbine-generators to the 2x800-mw Krishnapatnam coal-fired power project of Andhra Pradesh Power Development Company Ltd, a joint venture between Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Company (APGenco) and IL&FS. The Hazira facility established under technical guidance of Mitshubishi Electrical Co can test generators of up to 1,000 mw.
