Reliance Power has planned to set up a 200-mw wind farm in
Maharashtra, reports suggest. The plant with an investment of around
1,500 crore will take shape at Vashpet in Sangli district. The wind
farm will be equipped with 80 turbines of 2.5-mw rating, with technology
sourced from Fuhrlander of Germany. The project is scheduled to commission
by September next year.
RPower has also entered into a power purchase agreement with sister
company Reliance Infrastructure for wheeling electricity to the Mumbai
suburban circle where RInfra is the distribution licencee. Power will be
purchased at the MERC-stipulated rate of
5.37 per kwh. The Sangli farm marks
Reliance Power's entry in the wind power business.
