Schneider Electric recently entered the
Tamil Nadu retail switchgear market with
its ZENcelo and Vivace range of switches,
and the NeoBreak distribution systems.
Schneider, which is a new entrant in the
Indian retail market, has planned to have
4,000 outlets pan-India by 2012.
Commenting on the Tamil Nadu launch,
Schneider Electric India MD Olivier Blum
said, ''We are extremely pleased to enter the
Tamil Nadu market with a diverse range of
products that target the home and SMB
segments.'' The Tamil Nadu market for
modular switches and sockets, currently
valued at about
250 crore, is expected to
grow 12-15 per cent annually. A high level
of education and awareness in Tamil Nadu
has led to a relatively large customer base
that expects world class quality, service and
aesthetics at an affordable price, Blum said.
The market size of switches and
distribution boards in India is growing at 16
per cent year-on-year and is pegged at
2,400 crore. Of this home market size is
around
1,400 crore , according to reliable
industry estimates.
