Anil Ambani-led Reliance
Infrastructure Ltd (RInfra) has
commissioned a 400kV double
circuit transmission line between
Ranchodpura (Vadavi) and Zerda
(Kansari) in Gujarat.
The 140-km long transmission line,
part of the 1,500-km Western Regional
System Strengthening (WRSS), will
connect key business centres of Gujarat,
such as Disa, Patan and Kadi, and will
boost the economic growth of the
region, a release from RInfra noted.
WRSS, in its entirety, will involve
investment of
1,400 crore.
Out of three, two transmission lines
have now been commissioned in
Gujarat. The third transmission line
between Raigarh and Karamsad will be
commissioned soon.
"Out of nine, five transmission lines
have been successfully commissioned.
We are committed to complete the
project by FY12 and facilitate the power
flow from the eastern region to the
western region of the country," said Lalit
Jalan, Chief Executive Officer & director,
Reliance Infrastructure.
The project, once commissioned,
would facilitate free flow of 4,000 mw
from the power-rich eastern region to
the power-starved western region of the
country and would benefit all
constituent utilities. This would also
immediately aid in relieving grid
congestion presently being experienced
in the entire western region.
