Thermax Babcock & Wilcox
Energy Solutions Pvt Ltd
(TBWES) expects that its new
boiler plant coming up at Pune would
start commercial production by the
end of 2012. TBWES is a joint venture
between Thermax Ltd and US-based
Babcock & Wilcox Power Generation
Group, Inc. The JV intends to set up
facilities for producing large-size
boilers for power plants, especially
those designed to run on the new
supercritical technology.
In an email interaction with
Electrical Monitor, a senior official of
B&W noted that construction work
on the factory was progressing well
and was on schedule from its original
plan. "The plant will begin
commissioning activities this summer
and be capable of production before
year-end," he explained.
When asked about imminent
business opportunities in the
supercritical power equipment space,
the official noted that over the past
one year, TBWES has prepared several
firm bids for the supercritical boiler
market in India. "The professional
staff of white collar employees located
in its new office in Pune is actively
preparing tenders for several
important projects in the power
sector," he concluded.
