ABB wins automation order for offshore project in Mexico

ABB has won an order worth $16 million for the renewal of a lifecycle service contract to maintain and upgrade automation equipment installed on sixteen offshore production platforms in PEMEX's Cantarell and Ku-Maloob- Zaap Oil Fields. The contract renewal is for four years. Cantarell and Ku- Maloob-Zaap are the largest and most productive oil fields in Mexico, located in the Bay of Campeche, about 100 km northwest of Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico. Collectively they produce over 1.3 million barrels of crude oil per day.

The contract includes services, upgrades, technical assistance, training and spare parts supply for the distributed control systems (DCS), fire and gas detection (F&G), emergency shutdown (ESD), drives and electrical systems and related instrumentation installed on the platforms.

PEMEX (PetroleosMexicanos) is a Mexican state-owned company, responsible of the exploitation of petroleum resources that manages the exploration, exploitation, process and sale of oil and gas in Mexico.
