Tata Power, through its wholly owned subsidiary
Coastal Gujarat Power Ltd has announced
synchronization of 800-mw sized Unit 3 of the
country's first UMPP in Mundra, Gujarat. With this, the
total power generation
capacity of Tata Power
stands at 6899 mw,
reinforcing its position as
the largest private power
producer in India, a
statement by Tata Power
said.
Unit 1 of the 5x800-
mw Mundra UMPP was
commissioned in March
this year, followed by
Unit 2 in July. With synchronization of Unit 3, the
thermal power generation capacity of Tata Power
stands at 6047 mw and the generation through clean
sources such as hydro, wind and solar stands at 852 mw.
The 4000-mw Mundra UMPP is the first of the UMPP
series that heralds environment friendly and efficient
technology that helps save fuel for the project and cut
down greenhouse gas emissions up to 15 per cent as
compared to subcritical coal-fired power stations.
