The Jammu & Kashmir
government has banned the use
of incandescent lamps in all
government and commercial
establishments in the state, in a move
aimed at conservation and energy
efficiency. The state government has,
meanwhile, made the use of compact
fluorescent lamps (CFLs) mandatory.
The use of incandescent lamps in all
new buildings constructed in the
government sector, government
institutions, PSUs, autonomous
bodies, commercial establishments
has been banned with immediate
effect, according to an order issued on
February 11, 2013.
