Larsen & Toubro has secured an EPC order valued at Rs.5,689 crore from Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd for setting up the 2x660-mw Chhabra supercritical thermal power project. The order involves design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of two coal-fired thermal units of 660-mw each with supercritical parameters at Chhabra in Baran district, Rajasthan. The contract was won following international competitive bidding, involving several bidders. The project has a completion schedule of 42 months for Unit 1 and 45 months for Unit 2, a release from L&T said.
T&D orders: Meanwhile, the Power Transmission & Distribution Business of Larsen & Toubro has secured new orders worth Rs.1,097 crore. A major order was secured from Punjab State Power Corporation Limited for the execution of R-APDRP (Part B) Project on turnkey basis at Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana city. The scope includes construction of 66/11kV and 33/11kV grid substations, 11kV distribution lines, distribution transformer centers, underground cabling, package substations, installation of ring main units and static energy meters. Another order was received from Power Grid Corporation of India for the construction of a 400kV pooling station at Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu.
The power transmission & distribution business of Larsen & Toubro had also earlier reported the winning of an order from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd to construct a 400kV transmission line between Kurukhsetra (Haryana) and Jallandhar (Punjab) and another 400kV line for Abdullapur–Sonepat at Kurukhsetra associated with a WR–NR HVDC interconnector. The engineering company also received an order for 220kV underground cabling works from Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Ltd.
