Reliance Infrastructure Ltd
(RInfra) has won a
7,200-crore
EPC turnkey contract from group
company Reliance Power Ltd for the
2,400-mw Samalkot gas-fired power
plant in Andhra Pradesh. The combined
cycle gas plant is believed to be the
largest gas-based power plant in India,
by current thinking.
Samalkot CCPP will deploy efficient,
green and robust technology; the
project would commence power
generation by as early as 2011-end.
Orders for gas and steam turbines have
already been placed on GE, USA.
The Samalkot CCPP EPC contract is
the third significant power project
bagged by RInfra EPC from Reliance
Power. The other EPC contracts were for
the Sasan UMPP in Madhya Pradesh and
Butibouri coal-fired power project in
Maharashtra. Reliance Power is building
over 15,000 mw of new thermal power
capacity with six projects under
construction (see table.)
With the Samalkot EPC order under
its belt, the total EPC order book of
Reliance Infrastructure Ltd now stands
at
30,700 crore ($6.8 billion).
