Lapp Group, one of the world's leading
manufacturers and suppliers of high
flexibility cables, cable accessories and
industrial connectors, based out of
Germany, has announced that it would set
up a manufacturing unit near Bhopal in
Madhya Pradesh. Lapp will invest
150
crore in the new unit coming up at Pilukedi,
Rajgrah district.
Spread over 30 acres, the facility will be
second in India besides another one in
Bangalore where its corporate
headquarters Lapp India Pvt Ltd are
located. It will be home to three building
units with an individual manufacturing
apparatus in each. The Bhopal facility is
projected to be the largest manufacturing
unit of the Lapp Group in the next five years.
Speaking on the occasion, Siegbert E. Lapp,
Director, Lapp Holding AG said, "India's
thriving economy is showing a promising
outlook and I believe, it is the "future market"
of the connectivity solutions industry. With the
estimated market size of approximately €3
billion, we have a lot to do for the market."
According to Srinivas P Kamisetty, MD,
Lapp India, "Geographically 70 per cent of
our business comes from west and south
India, and Bhopal being located in the heart
of India is well equipped to meet the
logistical requirements of the regions while
servicing potential demand from other
parts of the nation as well."
