Indiabulls Infrastructure Company
Ltd has mandated Siemens to build
the 400/220kV gas insulated
switchgear (GIS) substation associated
with the 5x270-mw Sinnar thermal
power project in Maharashtra. The
substation is scheduled to commission
by October 2012.
The order, won by the Power
Transmission Division of Siemens,
covers system design, engineering,
civil works, supply, installation,
testing and commissioning of the
440kV GIS and 220kV GIS
switchyards including the 315MVA
interconnecting transformer, 80
MVAR reactor and 400kV and 220kV
EHV cables.
The 5x270-mw Sinnar coal-fired
power plant will feed electricity to
Maharashtra and neighbouring states.
The substation will be a crucial link
between the upcoming power plant and
the power grid of Mahatransco.
765kV substation
In an independent development, Siemens
has landed orders worth
319 crore to
supply 765/400kV substations at Angul
and Jharsuguda, Orissa. Scheduled to
commission in October 2012, the orders
were placed by Power Grid Corporation of
India Ltd on Siemens' power transmission
division. Siemens, it may be recalled,
commissioned India's first 765kV
substation at Seoni, Madhya Pradesh, for
PGCIL and is currently executing a number
of such high-rating substations.
