has been awarded a contract
worth
1,843 crore from THDC
India Ltd to construct the Tehri
pumped storage plant at Tehri
in Uttarakhand. This EPC
contract, in which HCC's share
is
701 crore, is to be completed
in 54 months.
The scope of work involves
construction of head race
tunnel, surge shaft, penstocks,
underground powerhouse,
ventilation system gallery, bus
bar gallery & cavern, drainage
gallery, access adits and tail
race tunnel. The Tehri Pump
Storage Project comprises four
reversible pump turbine units
of 250-mw each. The
operation of Tehri PSP is based
on the concept of recycling of
water discharged between the
upper reservoir and the lower
reservoir, a release from HCC
said. The Tehri Dam reservoir
will function as the upper
reservoir and Koteshwar
reservoir as the lower
balancing reservoir.
