Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd has commissioned a steam turbine generator for a sugar factory in Africa. The 12-mw STG was set up for Finchaa Sugar Factory in Ethiopia. The plant will produce steam and power for the sugar factory’s captive consumption. Excess power generated will be exported to the Ethiopian grid. BHEL completed civil works, erection and commissioning of the plant apart from being the equipment supplier. The Finchaa unit is the first STG that BHEL has set up in the African region.
