Power discom Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has planned to start construction of 15 new 33kV substations across DLF subdivision as part of the first phase of its ambitious zero-outage smart grid project. A project team has identified 25 locations from which the final locations will be shortlisted. Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has reportedly allotted three plots in Sushant Lok area.
Land allocation has been a major issue in the project and a special committee was formed under the additional deputy commissioner just for land acquisition of the project, it is learnt. The mapping of underground utilities has already been done and shared with civic agencies concerned. This will facilitate laying of high-tension underground cables related to the substations.
The DHVBN project team has also estimated the maximum power requirement that the area would need with further developments, once the cabling system has gone underground. The system will be able to support a load of 500 MVA, it is reported.
