Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd has planned
to hire 4,000 people in the current fiscal
year to take its headcount to over 50,000 by
March 2012, reliable reports suggest. With
current staff strength of 46,478, BHEL's
hiring this year will include engineers,
supervisors and workers. Most of the
recruitment will be fresh, while retiring
employees may be taken on as consultants
for specific projects.
Larsen & Toubro plans a 40 per cent
increase in recruitment of trainee engineers
from campuses, especially for its
new activities in heavy engineering (power
equipment, for instance) and power
production. NTPC, it is reported, will hire
close to 900 people, in line with the 840
inducted in 2010-11.
BHEL, despite its hiring spree, hopes to
restrict employee costs. In 2009-10,
employee costs that stood at 15.3 per cent
came down to 12 per cent in 2010-11. This
year, BHEL hopes to keep the employee
costs to 12.8 per cent, the report added. |
