Haryana plans to invest

4,058 crore ($883 million)
over the next four years to
spruce up its power T&D
infrastructure. It is learnt that state
transmission utility Haryana
Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Ltd will
construct 174 new substations and
augment the capacity of 98 existing
ones. The overall plan also includes
laying of 3,232 km of new power
transmission lines.
Recently a slew of new 132kV
substations were inaugurated
including those in the villages of
Khaikan, Kurangwali and
Dudhianwali. Foundation stones for
33kV substations at Shergarh and
Mallekan were also laid.
Haryana is also moving to the
400kV regime with substations of
this rating recently constructed at
Daulatabad. This substation is
associated with the Indira Gandhi
thermal power plant at Jhajjar. This
3x500-mw coal-fired power plant,
now partly commissioned, is a joint
venture between the state
governments of Haryana and Delhi,
and NTPC. HVPNL is also planning
to construct three more 400kV
substations at Nuhianwali in Sirsa,
Dhanauda in Mahendragarh and
Navada in Faridabad.
