The power transmission business of Areva
T&D India recently flagged of India's first
1,200kV capacitive voltage transformer
(CVT) from its Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu.
The CVT will be deployed at Power Grid
Corporation of India's 1,200kV Bina test
station in Madhya Pradesh. Apart from the
CVT, Areva T&D India will support the
project with disconnectors and digital
current transformers. All these equipments
will be produced at the Hosur and Chennai
factories.
PGCIL, it may be mentioned, is in the
process of establishing a 1200kV ultra high
voltage AC transmission system at Bina.
This development will facilitate equipment's
field testing before deploying the
technology for commercial purposes.
Successful completion of test station at
1,200kV will be a major accomplishment of
PGCIL to upgrade the existing transmission
voltage and create a highly advanced
transmission corridor, a statement by Areva
T&D India observed.
In 2009, Areva T&D India made significant
investments in the subcontinent to set up
new factories at Greenfield sites in
Vadodara, Hosur and Padappal and
upgraded its existing factories to
manufacture globally acclaimed advanced
technology products and solutions in
transmission. Areva T&D India today has the
capability to provide the entire range of all
transmission equipments up to 785kv and
above including power transformers (EHV
800kV DC and UHV 1200kV AC), the
statement added.
