
Power Grid Corporation of India has commissioned the transmission
systems for two units of the upcoming Mundra ultra mega power
project in Gujarat. The 4,000-mw coastal Mundra project with five
supercritical units of 800-mw each is being developed by Tata Power.
The first unit is scheduled to commission by December this year.
A statement by PGCIL
observed that the line is now
ready to evacuate power from
two units in normal conditions
and more than 1,200 mw in the
"contingency form" effective
September 30, 2011.
The system commissioned
consists of the 400kV Mundra-
Bachau-Ranchodpura double
circuit line along with the
630MVA Bachau 400/220kV
substation. About 770 ckm transmission line has been commissioned in
challenging conditions like passing through tough terrains in creek area
of Arabian Sea, excessive water logging due to heavy rains, etc, the
PGCIL statement noted.
