As many as 28 out of 48 major
electrical machinery items
recorded year-over-year decline
in production during H1, whilst
around 20 recorded increase,
according to DIPP compilation for
index of industrial production (2004-
05 base year) for H1 of 2010-12.
Air break switches/circuit breakers,
air & gas compressors, electric motor
(excluding single phase), air
conditioners (packaged), XLPE cables,
I.C.Chips and transistors, heat
exchangers, gear boxes, and mercury
vapour lamps recorded consistent
double-digit expansion in both halves;
whereas furnaces and UPS/ inverter/
converter sank further in H1.
Overall, the composite production
index of electrical machinery industry
declined by 4.1 per cent during the
period, against 17 per cent increase a
year ago. The combined price
realization in electrical machinery as
measured by wholesale price index
was around 4 per cent higher in
October, against a sub-one per cent rise
a year ago.
