Hyderabad-based Pitti Laminations
expects to complete its capacity
expansion plan by June 2012. The
company is in the midst of a Rs.31-crore
programme to expand capacity at its
manufacturing units near Hyderabad from
25,000 tpa to 35,000 tpa. The expansion is
being carried out in view of growing
demand for electrical laminations used in
a wide range of equipment like alternators,
DC machines, lighting alternators, etc. It
is estimated that
India's
consumption of
laminators is
around 3 lakh
tonnes per year.
Out of this around 2 lakh tonnes comes
from players in the organized sector, while
the remaining is contributed from units in
the unorganized sector.
Meanwhile, with a view to achieve better
cost efficiency, Pitti Laminations is
planning to acquire a foundry unit in
Andhra Pradesh. Currently, Pitti purchases
around 180 tonnes of castings per month
for its machining units. The targeted
foundry will be hived off into a subsidiary
with the original promoters continuing to
hold a minority stake.
