Reliance Power has announced that it has achieved
boiler light-up for the first unit of its 5x660-mw
Sasan UMPP in Madhya Pradesh. The feat was
accomplished in a record time of just 15 months from
zero date, a release by Reliance Power said. The Anil
Ambani-controlled
firm expects to
commission the unit
five months ahead of
schedule.
The Sasan UMPP is
India's first
supercritical power
plant with integrated coal supplies. Coal production has
already begun from the local Moher and Moher-Amlohri
coal blocks. Sasan UMPP has already achieved National
Grid connectivity through a 400kV line of Power Grid
Corporation of India.
The Sasan UMPP being developed with an
investment of Rs.20,000 crore, is currently India's
largest integrated coal mining and power generation
project.
