OBO Bettermann, a Germany
company in the electrical
support infrastructure
business, is planning to invest

150
crore to set up a manufacturing facility
at Chennai. The company has already
acquired a 5-acre plot, it is learnt.
The proposed facility will
manufacture metal-based electrical
and data cable support systems for the
growing domestic and other Asian
markets. OBO has been present in
India since 2008 but has had no
manufacturing facility. The Indian
market for electrical and data cable
support systems is estimated at

1,200
crore, and is mostly served by smalltime
fabricators in the unorganized
sector.
OBO Bettermann is a €400-million
enterprise and is engaged in products
and solutions relating to cable
management, cable carrying
systems, fire protection systems,
cable routing systems, under-floor
cable systems, etc.
The group caters to several countries
round the globe, and currently has
manufacturing facilities in Germany,
Hungary, Brazil and Italy.
