WRSS transmission line commissioned

EM NEWS BUREAU ,  Thursday, June 23, 2011, 11:57 Hrs  [IST]

Untitled - 9.jpgReliance Infrastructure Ltd recently commissioned another 400kV double-circuit transmission line, part of country's first 100 per cent privately owned transmission project in India on Build, Own and Operate (BOO) basis. This line has been constructed in the Western Region between Limdi (Chorania) and Ranchodpura (Vadavi) passing through three important business districts of Gujarat- Surendernagar , Ahmedabad and Mehasana.

About 103 km long, the 400kV double circuit Limdi-Ranchodpura transmission line is a part of the Western Regional System Strengthening (WRSS) project having an outlay of Rs.jpg1,400 crore and a total length of 1,500 km. RInfra's wholly owned subsidiary company, Reliance Power Transmission Ltd had commissioned first line of the project, Solapur-Karad transmission line in January 2011, much before the scheduled commissioning in a record time of 15 months. The company is expected to commission the completed project by the second quarter of 2011-12.

Once commissioned, the project would facilitate the free flow of 4,000 mw of power from the eastern region to the powerstarved western region of the country, benefiting all regional utilities. This would also immediately aid in relieving grid congestion presently being experienced in Gujarat.

RInfra is currently executing five transmission projects spreading across almost all parts of the country with a total project outlay of over Rs.jpg6,600 crore. The company also owns two out of the five ultra mega transmission projects awarded to private sector till date.
