Punj Lloyd Group, has announced
the winning an EPC nuclear Power
contract from Nuclear Power
Corporation of India. Worth
678 crore,
the order involves critical nuclear piping
work at four pressurized heavy water
reactors of 700-mw each.
The scope of work includes
engineering, procurement, erection and
commissioning of nuclear equipment
and piping for all the systems inside the
nuclear reactor buildings. Out of the 4
PHWRs, two are located at Kakrapara
Atomic Power Project (KAPP Unit 3 &
Unit 4) near Surat in Gujarat and the
other two are at Rajasthan Atomic
Power Project (RAPP 7 & RAPP Unit 8)
near Kota in Rajasthan. The contract is
scheduled to be completed in four years.
Commenting on the order, Atui Punj,
Chairman, Punj Lloyd, said: "This is a
significant win which has opened new
avenues for the Group in the booming
nuclear power sector. With the
government's ambitious nuclear power
target of achieving 63,000 mw by 2032,
the sector in India is poised for robust
growth in the future. This contract will
place us in the select league of EPC
contractors having nuclear power
project execution capabilities,
strengthening our position both
nationally and internationally."

Engineering is also working on NPCIL's
Rajasthan Atomic Power Project (RAPP
Unit 7 & Unit8), where it is carrying out
detailed design and engineering for
balance of plant. Simon Carves, another
group company has been actively
engaged in the nuclear industry since
the 1950s, delivering some of the
world's first nuclear power facilities, a
statement from Punj Lloyd said.
